Rimeroo

Privacy policy

Last updated 9 September 2026

Rimeroo is an app for shared houses in the UK. It keeps a bin rota, a house guide, and a record of things that need fixing. This page explains exactly what it stores, who can see it, and how to get rid of it.

The short version. An email address to sign you in, a first name so your house knows whose turn it is, and the rota itself. Your housemates never see your surname or your email address. Rimeroo never asks for your phone number at all. There is no advertising in it, no tracking across other apps or websites, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Who is responsible for your data

Rimeroo is operated by Baulin Technologies Limited, the data controller for everything described here. Registered in England and Wales, company number 17092368, at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. For anything in this policy, write to hello@baulin.co.uk.

If your house is managed by a letting agency or landlord who set the property up in Rimeroo, they decide who is in the house and what the house guide says. For that information they act as a controller in their own right, and you can ask them directly about it.

What we collect, and why

WhatWhyLegal basis
Your email addressTo sign you in. Rimeroo uses a one-time code sent to your email rather than a password.Performance of a contract
A name, if you give oneSo a turn on the rota belongs to a person and not just a room number. Optional because the app works without it.Performance of a contract
Which house and room you are inTo show you your own house, and only your own house.Performance of a contract
The rota: whose turn each week, which bins, what you marked as done, and any swapsIt is the point of the app.Performance of a contract
Things you report, and any photos you attachSo whoever manages the house can see what is wrong and reply to you about it.Performance of a contract
Messages you send in a report or notice threadTo keep the conversation about one thing in one place.Performance of a contract
A record of significant actions in your houseSo an admin can see who issued a join code, ended a membership or changed a rota. Visible to house admins only.Legitimate interests: keeping a shared account honest

That is the whole list. Rimeroo has no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, and no crash-reporting service. It does not read your contacts, your calendar, your location or your other apps.

Your camera and photo library

Rimeroo asks for these only when you attach a photo to a report, and only the photo you pick is uploaded. Photos are stored privately: they are never on a public URL, and are served to your house admin through a link that expires. If you never report anything, no photo ever leaves your phone.

Notifications

Bin reminders are scheduled on your own phone. The reminder never travels over the internet, so we do not learn when it fired or whether you saw it. You can turn them off in Account, or in iOS Settings.

What your housemates can see

This is the part people actually want to know, so it is enforced in the database rather than left to the app to remember.

  • Your first name only. If you enter “Ama Boateng”, your house sees “Ama”. The rest is not readable by them at all.
  • Never your email address, and never anything else on your account.
  • Your turns on the rota, and whether a turn was marked done. The house has to be able to see that.
  • Not the things you report. A report and its thread are visible to you and to your house admin. Other residents cannot see it.

A house admin, meaning whoever set the property up or your agency, can additionally see the rooms, the memberships, the reports raised in the house, and the audit record described above.

Where your data is kept

Rimeroo’s database, sign-in and photo storage are provided by Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services in Ireland (the eu-west-1 region). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Supabase acts as our processor and does not use your data for its own purposes.

Apple distributes the app and handles the App Store or TestFlight account you install it with. We do not receive your Apple ID.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and its data: until you delete it. There is no inactivity sweep.
  • If you leave a house: your room is freed and you lose access to that house immediately. Turns already on the rota keep the room they belonged to, because the house’s own history would otherwise stop making sense.
  • Reports and photos: deleted with your account.

Deleting your account

Open Account in the app and choose Delete my account. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. It removes your sign-in, your name, your membership, the reports you raised and the photos attached to them. You do not need to email anyone or wait for us to action it.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or object to it being processed. You can also ask for it in a portable form. Write to hello@baulin.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Children

Rimeroo is for people renting a home and is not intended for under-16s. We do not knowingly collect data about children. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who can see it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Anything that materially affects you will be flagged in the app rather than only here.
